If you have used another device to send files from there to send to your Blackberry Storm then you shall notice that you first have to pair devices then you can send each other files. It’s best to pair using your Blackberry Storm then sending a file from the other device to yours.

To pair the device, go to manage connections, choose Set up Bluetooth then press search. After that when you have found the device and entered the pass code of your choice. Proceed to the file of your choice that you wish to send to/from your Blackberry Storm. If you wish to send it from your Storm device then select the file, press menu and choose send using Bluetooth.

There are many ways to setup WiFi on your Blackberry Storm device, but today at the Blackberry Storm Blog I’ll discuss the easiest way for you. All you need to have is a router near you and a internet connection to it.

Proceed to menu, setup folder which will have a bolt in green then choose Set up Wi-Fi and choose the first option: scan for Networks. Choose Turn Wi-Fi on if you previously haven’t then let it scan for the network. After that the network/s available will appear as well as their strength.

Your Blackberry Storm then will connect to the WiFi connection, you should have an option to save this profile as a network and the connection name which should be configured according to your preference. Then click next and finish.

You have now configured a wireless connection to your Blackberry Storm which you can use which apps as well as the web browser but can also work with BBM if you leave the network on.

In some cases, you buy a Blackberry Storm that is locked but later wish to unlock it since acquiring a new one is expensive. You do need an unlock code and also do need to know your IMEI number, getting the lock code from a friend won’t work since that is designated for that specific IMEI number.

Instructions:

1. Turn off all the connections.

2. Proceed to the options menu.

3. Go to Advanced Options

4. Choose SIM Card

5. In landscape mode, open the keyboard and type medp without spaces. You won’t be able to see the text

6. Now enter the letters: mep2

7. It should say enter network mep code. Enter the code given to you which is usually 16 digits long

Your Blackberry Storm is now unlocked. If you fail to do this for 5 consecutive times, your Blackberry Storm will be locked to your carrier.

I have experienced many difficulties on how to download large files on my Blackberry Storm that are essential to me. I finally found out how to remove that download limit. By some, this is considered a hack while others consider this a tutorial. Follow me after the break.

This guide doesn’t require any technical steps or it isn’t hard at all, just go to options, advanced options, service books, the in landscape mode with number mode on, press “4?2?”. Then you should get something that says “Legacy SB Restore Enabled”. This means that you have successfully removed the download limit.

When switching from 1 Blackberry Storm to another, you have an option to sync your contacts. Not all users notice that therefore I shall post a guide on how to sync your contacts. All you need is an email address and some contacts.

When you have setup your email address, you will get an option to sync your contacts with the address, all you have to do is press next. Then to make sure that this was successful, choose a random contact, if it says sync to the email address of your choice then it was successful.

I recently noticed at various forums that whenever you go to the Blackberry Storm Dial Pad, the number on the top is either shown incorrectly or it says unknown number, I also had this problem and found out the solution yesterday. Please note that this isn’t the solution for every Blackberry Storm.

When in the Dial Pad, type “#000000#” which will take you to the CDMA settings, then from there you can change the number to the correct number.

When you are a beginner, you would want to setup your email accounts as soon as you have access to a BIS/BES. I don’t know if the same procedure is to be followed when setting up email with BES but I do know how to set up email with BIS.

All you have to do is know the domain e.g Gmail, Yahoo or Hotmail etc. There is an option which allows to use your own company’s domain.

Now, to start receiving the emails on your Blackberry Storm, go to setup, email settings, choose the correct options and then fill out the necessary requirements.

Then, your email account shall appear on the menu. When you have received an email, it will appear under messages and the email address.

After setting up your email accounts, you can also add signatures and much more.

You may have have noticed that your Blackberry Storm device says that SMS and MMS full, delete some messages. I have gotten that error and after clearing my whole inbox, the error still comes up. The best way to avoid that it to gain 5MB more memory, you can delete applications but your device will still have the same factory memory, and not 5MB more. E.g- Factory memory is 2GB, after following my steps, you have 2.5GB.

You will have to install a new Blackberry OS in your Storm. To make sure that you have a back up, it;s best to use Blackberry protect and also back up your device via the Desktop Manager, if you want to keep your 3rd party applications, follow my guide of yesterday.

After downloading the new OS on your PC, literally install it, then be-careful with the next step. Delete the following only please,
net_rim_bb_medialoader_backgrounds_360x480_t.cod and net_rim_bb_medialoader_360x480_t.cod files., deleting other files may cause the OS to be corrupt and not work when you try to install it.

Then after all those steps, then finally load the new OS on to your device and it should work. I haven’t tried this method out yet.

Please make sure that you are using Windows OS as this won’t work on any Linux version, even with Wine installed. If you do get it right with Linux, let us know so that we can share it with others.

There isn’t just 1 type of Blackberry Storm in the world. you may have the Verizon version or even the Vodafone version. Each carrier, especially in the USA, have their own type of Blackberry Storm as they have different types of network antennas. I am currently holding a Blackberry Storm in South Africa even though it isn’t made form South African networks. Similar to different Storm, each one has their own shortcuts but today I will only mention the general ones.

I knew how to bring up the event log and delete the events from my device, even though the trick was for the 9550, it still didn’t work, instead, I tried another method. Check out my post just dedicated for the Event Log.

The default setting for the network strenght is to show bars, but I get tired of that so I tried out the following, press the Blackberry button, show keyboard, number lock, and then I typed ! ,” ” (exclamation mark, comma, quotation marks, quotation marks).

Another shortcut to change the languages, is to have the landscape keyboard on, then press global, the key right after the space.

You may notice at some stage, to enable a few things on the Blackberry Storm, you may have to go to a “Help Me!” screen. SOme websites/forums say that you have to hold he back button, then click on the top left, top right, and again do the same procedure. It won’t specify if this must be in landscape mode or portrait.

The correct version is to hold the back button in landscape mode, then tap the top left, top right and do it again.

The above shortcut was for all the Blackberry Storm devices, from the Telus version to the Dubai version. Now, the next shortcut is only for the CDMA enabled devices such as the Blackberry Storm 9550, on the dial screen, input ##000000 and press call. This should show up a screen and show a CDMA service screen.
