Nokia released a US version of the C7, normally American edition devices would have CDMA network but surprisingly, the Nokia C7 Astound does not have CDMA network but rather GSM and HSDPA.

The OS compared, Symbian is slowly falling down according to comments at various websites while Blackberry OS devices are growing to the BBM service which is unique to RIM.

The display of the Astound here also is the successor due to its scratch-proof Gorilla glass display, don’t forget the aluminum casing all over the device.

Some of the Symbian^3 OS devices were launched before the Microsoft-Nokia agreement therefore Nokia included Windows support with the PR1.0 update.

Till today, no plans have been seen involving Microsoft and Blackberry.

With a choice of 4 Blackberry Storm devices that can be used for comparisons, I chose to use the Blackberry Storm 9530 for a comparison against the Samsung l9100 Galaxy S ll.

There is a disadvantage with the Blackberry 9530, CDMA network was made for the U.S but Blackberry hasn’t specified that this device is only for the U.S. To find out if this device can work in your country then contact your service provider.

With its competitor, the GSM and HSDPA network can be used world wide. In addition to that comparison, the number of bands can be compared but I’ll move on to the display for today.

The Samsung in this case is the successor because it offers Super AMOLED Plus Capacitive Touchscreen while the Storm 9530 only offers a TFT Capacitive Touchscreen.

When it comes to the OS, Android is the most wanted and used in America but Blackberries can be made the most popular because of the BBM service.

Both competitive companies launch smartphones each year to be the best at what they do. The Motorola DROID X2 was recently launched this month while the Blackberry Storm 2 9520 was introduced on October 2009. Even though the dates are so far part, a comparison will still take place.

Both aren’t equipped with CDMA network which still means that countries like the U.S can handle them. You may be thinking that how can other countries handle the CDMA DROID X2, to prove that, I hold a Blackberry Storm 2 9550 in South Africa.

in terms of display, the DROID X2 wins with .825″ more while the 9520 only offers 3.25″.

Moving towards the memory comparison, the Storm 2 9520 has an internal limit of 2GB but you can upgrade it with a 32GB microSD, the Motorola competitor currently has 6GB more than the internal memory of the Storm 2 9520.

The camera of the Storm here also isn’t very good but rather bad with 3.15 megapixel, rather take the Motorola if you want to take photos.

The reason why Blackberries are bought, is because of the Blackberry Messenger service which Motorola fails to provide. Another alternative can be WhatsApp messenger or even MXit which can be used globally.

By now, the Blackberry leaks should have reached everyone’s ears. There is going to be another addition to the Blackberry Storm family but instead today at the Blackberry Storm blog, I will compare the Blackberry Storm 2 9550 against the Blackberry Curve Touch CDMA.

Both are CDMA devices but the Curve Touch hasn’t been officially announced so the comparison won’t be in detail for you to read.

Both devices have a 2G CDMA network but the Storm 2 9550 has a dual-band EV-DO 3G network, the network will be hard to use of brought out of the American market since this device was made for the U.S

In production, Blackberry has made a mistake of my Blackberry Storm 2. According to RIM, I have a Storm 9520 but when looked carefully at the bottom of the device, “Qualcommm 3G CDMA” which means that this can only be a Storm 2 9550. The 2G network of this device will work perfectly in South Africa.

The Blackberry Storm 2 9550 is a complete touchscreen device, therefore it has no optical trackpad but the Curve Touch does have a trackpad.

In terms of internet speed, the Storm 2 9550 is faster with HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps; HSUPA; EV-DO RevA 3.1Mbps while the Curve Touch is falling behind with RevA 3.1Mbps.

This can’t be told for sure since the specs are unofficial.

The final decision would be to end of this comparison like this until the specs are official.

It is original as well as more and more great applications are being released day by day, either from the JaredCo or others.

The main reason why the Nokia E7 lost is because of the random reboots and its lack of originality. Its design was derived from the Nokia N8. Follow the links below if you’ve missed out on the comparison:

The Nokia E7, Nokia N8 and the Blackberry Storm 2 are all great smartphones but 2 of them have to be disqualified or lost the game in the comparison. The Nokia E7 should be taken into consideration even though it is another version of the Nokia N8. The reason why I say that is because the simple and original N8 was taken, a QWERTY keyboard was added but to make the E7 look less than the N8, 4 mrgapixels were selected and delete was pressed.

Follow me after the break to read the true and original winner of the comparison.

In terms of the software updates, the Nokia N8 is badly recommended as Nokia takes its time but it seems since the month old deal happened, Nokia is even growing slower. The Nokia E7 hasn’t et received a global launch therefore the updates won’t be available even though it is a Symbian^3 smartphone. The Nokia devices aren’t the only bad guys here.

Most of the Blackberry Storm 2 handsets have an update issue, ever since I bought mine, the wireless update has been malfunctioning despite trying it with several Wi-Fi networks and various SIM cards.

In overall, the Blackberry Storm 2 wasn’t used to make another Storm with a QWERTY keyboard therefore it is original. There is no say here on what is the champion as the Nokia E7 makes it difficult to choose. Choosing the best phone won’t suit the needs ut rather get a phone that completely suits the needs.

??The camera was a major contributor for the consumers but now its time to move on to quality. The Nokia N8 has a anodized aluminum casing which is pretty strong and that is the reason that the Nokia N8 Portal voted it the best N-series that can acquire so much pressure and torture. If the N8 has a anodized aluminum casing, it means that so does the Nokia E7 since it originated from the N8.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZz0vcxOLC4

The Blackberry Storm 2 was dropped unintentionally by myself from a height of 1.5 meters but luckily, no damage was visible when the device had no protection at all. While the Nokia N8 was dropped, a few scratches were seen at the side of the touchscreen.

The Nokia E7 is another version of the Nokia N8, it did take long to manufacture as the producers had to make a “replica” of the N8 and then add a QWERTY keyboard. If the Nokia candidates had to drop at the same place, they would survive as thay have gone through rougher tests.

For some it’s sad but for others it’s great, follow me up tomorrow to find the end as well as the best choice between all these smartphone rivals.

The Symbian^3 OS family is powerful but the question is that despite being a large family, are they capable of challenge to the Blackberry Storm 2? Blackberry recently launched something called Blackberry Protect which is still in the beta phase. it can track the Blackberry no matter what its location as long as it isn’t covered by any basement or has no network coverage as A-GPS is mostly needed.

The competitor does not have any facilities like this nor does Nokia have any plans to launch such a program but there are third party applications that allow this service. The Nokia N8 and E7 both do have A-GPS built in. It shouldn’t be so hard to create such an application for the 2 Symbian^3 OS candidates as per till date news. The E7 is a replica of the Nokia N8, the original Nokia N8 was taken and an additional QWERTY keyboard was added but 4 megapixels were extracted.

Carrying on to the camera, the Nokia N8 was used for a movie called Dot, a couple of episodes of Fox in the Snow and a video created by editor-in-chief. It wasn’t easy to film it as the N8 was vibrating due to the wind put he managed to pull it off without editing the video, just pasting. Considering the N8 camera just by itself without its achievements, it is a pretty dangerous weapon and even better when CameraPro is used.

Since there is a new OS for the Blackberries in the market. Many people will perform a software update but sometimes, its not so simple to back up the data. Its much easier when you use the Blackberry Protect, hassle free and a bonus of tracking your Blackberry Storm from your PC.

Please note that you do need a Blackberry ID but don’t worry, f you don’t have an ID, you can always register at the moment. The drawback is that when tracking the location, the place of your Blackberry is at an approximate location of 800 meters.

It does give every other detail correctly such as the country, province and suburb. Luckily the Storm devices come with A-GPS built in rather than having to us third party GPS applications such as Google Maps. This tracking application comes in handy when your Storm has been hijacked or even lost but when you go on to track it, no street view is available.

It would have been best if RIM used Google Maps instead of Bing, atleast it would have helped the global users.

Both, Storm 1 and 2 have an option where you can put a password and have to input it to use the phone. The option is under options and then password. There are many other application that can substitute that and the easiest of them all is Touch Unlock.

It was developed by MMMOOO which is quite famous in the Symbian and Blackberry software world. They have created many excellent and unique applications including Touch Unlock. It name doesn’t literally specify what has to be done to unlock the device. It is quite a mistery for the first-time users to actually figure out how the application works. Follow the steps below.

Step 1:

Download Touch Unlock from the app world. Then make sure you have it somewhere easy accessible.

Step 2:

Initiate it and go to Touch Unlock under options, you should be directed there. It is at the end of the menu.

Step 3:

Choose a password.

Step 4(optional):

Enable the application if it is disabled.

Now you’re ready to use Touch Unlock. Just remember your password, or in this case, what to trace on the path.

I prefer this app as it’s much easier than inputing your password every-time, it was quite irritating.
