Many times, users find problems with the default OS and sometimes the updates that are suppose to fix those issues. To everything that one does, there is always another way to do it, you can install a hybrid OS on your Blackberry Storm 9530/9550.

You do need a base OS to be installed on your PC which then you need to find the hybrid. The user may back up its apps with BBSAK and the rest of your device with the Blackberry Desktop Manager. Then you need to wipe the device, you will notice a Error 507 which means that your Blackberry Storm has no OS installed.

Delete everything from your OS folder on your PC which should have a path similar to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9530-v4.7.0.151_P4.0.0.186. You need to extract your Hybrid OS into that folder above but only after you have deleted.

Run the App Loader, only install the default OS apps, then after completion of the OS – go back and install other apps. If the apps that you want to install aren’t found, navigate to the Back up which will be under BBSAK. After completion of everything, do a battery pull 3 times.

The top 8 apps have been revealed in the past days. Who shall be the last 2 apps of this week? These applications were chosen very carefully and tested for any bugs before they qualified for our top 10 list. These apps are also favorites of my colleagues and they are also the favorites of other Storm users.

Phoney Fart qualifies for ninth place. This app is really great for the 1st of June. When someone is about to sit or sitting, randomly choose any setting and press “FART”. The sounds on this app are absolutely amazing, from blow to ripper to whopper, its like you’re actually farting.

The best part of ‘em all is that you have a timer where you set it to e.g 10 seconds and it farts automatically, then when it farts, the source remains unknown. Unfortunately this app is either available for 20 minutes or 20 farts and after that, you have to purchase it for $0.99. not a bad price.

Moving on, the 10th place is reserved for SalatMK.

I’ve been on journeys where I’m in the middle of nowhere and journeys where I don’t know where to face so that I can pray. But then when I found SalatMK, it was absolutely convenient for me to go to any country for a journey, it easily tells me the Qibla direction but then you do need a data plan. You don’t always have to start the program to look at the prayer times, there is also a function where it actually recites the call to prayer automatically.

While roaming when you have left your country, SalatMK determines the prayer times automatically without any input from the user.

Some of these applications were humorous to try out e.g, the Phoney Fart. Please note that the prices are subject to change according to RIM. All of the top 10 apps do have functionality on the Storm 1 and 2.

Top 10 applications of the month (5) is a post from: The BlackBerry Storm

6 out of 10 best Blackberry apps were already informed, who shall qualify for the last 4 apps of this week? Only time shall tell. SmartGuard qualifies for 7th place. This application claims that it can track you but the Blackberry itself doesn’t come with a GPS tracking device. The Storm 1 and 2 only come with GPS that only allows navigation, thats why when you are being tracked, you position is approximately in a perimeter of 900 meters.

This application is absolutely helpful because it doesn’t just offer tracking but “Back Up, Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, Restore, A Personal Guardian and a Sim Guardian”. All this is just enough to protect my Storm 2 but it hasn’t been yet tested in the real battlefield against online predators.

If your SIM card is registered with SmartGuard and another unregistered SIM card is in your Blackberry, then an email will be sent to you notifying that an unrecognized SIM card has been inserted in to your device. You can then track the handset from your computer and inform 911, isn’t that great?

To carry on with another application, Aces Traffic Pack Classic qualifies for 8th position.

Many people like mind games. This isn’t exactly a mind game but you have to think in a such a way that the bright red car has too pass but at the same time, you have to perform the least moves. I for one, first try to get the red car out and then re-do the level. It’s a form of cheating but your scores and moves don’t get published on the producers website.

Unfortunately this game game is only available in landscape mode.

Blackberries have many applications but not all of them qualify for our top 10 applications week.

First up, the app called “Movies by Flixter“.

The application is for free. Many people love to watch movies and keep up to date with the latest releases. This application provides a huge range of information about the latest box office releases, lists of the nearby theaters(may vary on country), upcoming movies, DVD releases, and even lets you search. Next to each movie title, there is a small thumbnail of the movie cover next to it, as well as the rating and a brief description. Selecting the title lets you see more information, genre and many more….

The WeatherBug is up next.

WeatherBug is a bit old but in the end, “old is gold”.

From the homescreen, a bright icon changes its colour depending on the current weather outside, it also displays the current temperature including the predicted high and low temperatures for the rest of the day.

This free application doesn’t only give the user the current, hourly, 5 day, and 7 day forecasts, but also includes weather alerts for your inconvenience so that everytime that you want to see the weather, a notification appears at your homescreen. A Bing radar map is also included. The best part is that if you choose the camera or video options, (drum rolls) it displays a live feed of your nearest weather station of your current location.

In conclusion, the Blackberry is worth it depending on the usage of it.

At first, I want to mention that SpyBuble is destinated to employers and parrents but there might be other people using this app too. As they mentioned on their website, this app is available for BlackBerry and other smartphones too so even if you don’t have a BlackBerry, you can still read this article.

So if you have authority above a person and you want to know how is that person using his BlackBerry, you can use SpyBubble. You can find the whole call history, read all SMS messages (sent or received), locate that person using google maps and even access its phone book adress and that person will never know that you’re spying him / her.

2. enable application permissions and click the download button

3. right now you will be asked to view the permission page

4. then you will get to the permition screen and you have to change to allow all items in all three categories to allow, click the menu button and then press save

You might know that whenever you download / buy an app which was released recently released, it might have some bugs or the most common issue on new apps, to be working very slow.

You don’t have to worry about these things because most apps, depending on how cool the developers are, there are released some upgrades improving the app or even offer new features to it.

That’s exactly what happened with this app. You might say that it’s just a weather app but it can still have a lot of bugs and it can still work pretty slow. I actually tested a much simpler app than this one and it was working very slow that I couldn’t even use it.

Well, this app went through a lot of upgrades so you can tell that you won’t have any problem with it.

You need to know that this app can provide weather information on your BlackBerrys home screen. You will get an icon depending on how is the weather at that time, the maximum and the lowest temperatures from that day and a word representing how is the weather at that time.

If you’re looking for a free app which is commonly met as free, you might want to make a research on that domain because for example, if you don’t have a 3G data plan, you might meet de situation where the app that you bought is not satisfying or it just doesn’t work. The conclusion is that you need the best app for that. I’m telling you that because it happened to me too.

This time we talk about a translator app which is called the Navita Translator and there is no doubt that this is the best free translator app. There might not be even a paid app better than this one because I just saw it in the top free apps and it was ranked the second.

Some of the features of this app is that you can post your translations to twitter, facebook and other social media websites. It also has the dictionary function or better said, it will have the dictionary function because at the moment it is disabled, probably because this app is very new (it was released the day before yesterday so they probably have to improve it or even develop it.

I know that some people might say that Sims is for girls but I personally really like the game. No, I’m not playing it because I know it’s a waste of time but that doesn’t mean that the idea is not unique and also a very catchy and good game.

What I said until now in this article, was referred to all Sims games because I know that this game migrated to many platforms, including mobile phone platforms and again, including the BlackBerry OS platform which is a good thing for EA (the developers) and for fans too.

To present the game in a few words, it is basically a virtual life game. You might have played other games like that too but I’m telling you, there is no other game better than this one when you talk about virtual life. The graphics and the gameplay are awesome.

Normally, this game would be played in-door and around your house but this game is called “world adventures” so it is exactly the opposite of the other games.

The overall rating score is 3.5/5 stars which is quite a good one but there are only 8 reviews.

When someone talks about a feed reader, I’m instantly thinking at Google reader. Actually, if you ask me, I don’t know any other feed reader to tell you but I know that Google has the most popular and the best feed reader ever. I’m talking about the PC Web version but there is also a cool online version for phones.

Reading the feed reader from this app is much different from reading it on the web because with this app, you can even do that even when you’re not in a Wi-Fi area and not having any other internet source. This app saves your last feeds so that you can read them later.

The app can also synchronize with your Google reader in the background which is another great feature because it will save your time and it will also avoid not to read the feed when you don’t have internet access because it might happen to forget to update it.

It even has a nice interface which is kind of a must have for this kind of apps because you spend a lot of time in these apps and your eyes need to be entertained.

Unfortunately, the app is overpriced. It costs $9.99 and you can buy it from here.

We’ll only talk about the reviews of this app at the end of this article, until then, we’ll only consider what the developer said in the description and the screenshots they provided.

There are actually a lot of apps like this one and not only for the BlackBerry platform, for all platforms and I personally never tried any of those apps but now I’m going to review this one.

I was thinking that if I want a specifically background, I can grab it by my own from Google but this app is for those lazy or busy people that can’t get a background for their BlackBerry from Google.

The interface seems quite easy to use and there are wallpapers for all domains (you can see examples in the description they provided in the app world).

Finally, as you can see, this app has a very low rating score namely 1.5/5 stars. After taking a look in the reviews, I see that many people reported that this app doesn’t work on their phone or that it doesn’t work properly but to those people that mentioned that this app works perfectly on their phone, they rated 5/5 stars this app.
