Will Blackberry OS 6.0 Bring Widgets To Blackberry?

Although Blackberry has enjoyed huge success with its devices and services all over the world the last couple of years, RIM can’t sleep on their laurels. Currently BB OS is slightly behind some competitors that have implemented new technologies on their platforms. One specific example is widgets. The Android platform sports a 5 page homescreen totally customizable with widgets. This widgets can be arranged on the homescreen how the user likes and serve for different things. For example, a weather widget will give you current weather conditions. There are thousands of widgets, for example, I currently use a back counter for the World Cup and a ”Daily Quote” widget on my Nexus One which is Android based, among others.

Looks like Blackberry is looking forward to implement Widgets on their future OS. There are some leaked images of BB OS 6.0 that sport a couple of useful widgets on the homescreen. For example, the ESPN widget brings live scores to your homescreen, just brilliant. Some might argue that the homescreen looks crowded with info, but remember, the one of the cool aspects about widgets is that you can arrange them or delete them from your homescreen. Lets hope RIM brings widgets fast to the Blackberry Storm.

I like the idea of the widgets however i think that what Blackberry really needs is space, it is quite simple to full the Blackberry memory, I need to delete aplications almost everytime I bring something new to mine.

I truly think this could solve with the OS, beacause Palm have an amazing application that solve this problem, creating shortcuts in internal memory but saving everything on the external memory card.

    I hope RIM realize that.
