Blackberry Storm Freezing? Might Be Time To Wipe It!

I have noticed lately that my Blackberry Storm has been freezing, it occurs rarely, maybe twice a month but is really annoying. The Storm just freezes, it becomes unresponsive and the screen doesn’t move. I usually have to remove the battery and start the device again, which takes ages. I don’t think there is a specific thing you can do to keep your Storm from freezing, is just natural that sometimes it crashes. However, if your Storm is just freezing too often, there is one thing you can do. Is a bit tedious and takes some time. What you have to do is first back up your device using the desktop software, here are clear instructions: Instructions.

Now you have to wipe your handset. Go to ”Options” then select ”security options” after that select ”Security Wipe,” tick all the boxes and enter ”blackberry”. Your Storm will be cleaned and will be like when you got it out of the box. Now you have to restore your Storm again following the right hand column instructions on the web site given above. That might help with the freezing. Other thing I can think of, is that you haven’t updated your Storm to the latest version. To update your Storm follow the instructions here: Update

Hello, I got a blackberry storm from my son for Christmas, and it was unlocked from a verizon branded phone to my at&t account… my storm is freezing a lot and I was not sure if it was because it was originally branded for verizon… could this be a blackberry issue rather than a carrier issue?

Hello Shana. When my Storm used to crash, I always used to cleat my event log and it solved my problem. Just try to clear it and tell me if it doesn’t work or it works.
