The Battlefield: Blackberry Storm vs Samsung Armani Night Effect

Now we have two interesting phone models, the Storm from RIM and the Armani Nigth Effect from Samsung. This handsets have similar specifications but they also differ on other specifications and features, for example the Blackberry Storm is a touch screen enabled phone while the Samsung Armani Night Effect is a candybar with regular interface. The Storm has a  bigger touch screen but the Samsung Armani has a OLED screen which shows colors more brilliantly and closer to real life colors, the OLED screen is an interesting feature that might take over the Storm’s screen. The Samsung Armani has also light surrounding the body that light in the color the user decides, it produces an extraordinary and fancy glowing effect that steals the attention from everybody near the Night Effect.

Another aspect this phones have in common is that they are aimed at music fanatics, both the Storm and the Samsung Armani Night Effect have a standard 3.5mm Jack and come bundled withh MicroSD card for extra Storage. But the Samsung Night Effect has dedicated Music Keys therefore the music experience is much better with a Samsung Armani than with a Blackberry Storm. Again the Samsung Night Effect added the A2DP Bluetooth Profile so the user can manage music and calls with the Bluetooth Headset Controls. As the Blackberry Storm the Samsung Night Effect lacks WI-FI, but what the Samsung has that the Blackberry does not is a second camera for video calling.

In the camera area they are very similar, the Samsung Night Effect has a 3.2 Megapixel camera as the Blackberry Storm has one, both have Auto-Focus and video recording capabilities. But ironically the Samsung ”Night” Effect lacks Flash. And that is a big mistake from Samsung because the Night Effect is supposed to be a phone for people that like the night life, so how will they take pictures without a Flash? Here the Storm win with the LED Flash that is enough to take decent pictures at night.

Both devices are interesting to analyse, they offer unique features for unique customers, but as far as I can tell this looked like a tie. What do you think?
