Tips: A few couple of tips to let you handle your Storm better.
When I get a new device I always like to know its little tricks that make tasks much easier! Normally I discover them by pure luck, I press some button I didn’t mean to and !BAM! something cool happens. Or I long press a button and it does something completely different. Here at the Storm blog I will let you know as soon as I discover a new trick for the Storm, today I will share with you some of the tricks I have found so far.
1. The first one I found, was while I was listening to music. While the device is locked you can adjust volume with tthe lateral keys but you can also long press the VolumeUp button and the player will change to the next track. And if you long press the VolumeDown button it changes to the previous heard song, all this without unlocking the device!
2.The Storm has a upper right key, I thought it was to switch betw
een Silent and Normal profiles, but amazingly it is not for that, well kind off. The upper right key DOES change the profile to Silent but only when the device is locked. So you can lock the Storm and then long press the upper right button and it will toggle between profiles. This key has a secondary function, while on the Music Player you just press it and the Music will Mute. It is really useful becaus elets you stop quickly your music when somebofy is talking to you.
3.This is a very useful trick, when you are in email you hold your finger over an email without clicking, and it will filter alll the emails you had from this person.

hi,i don’t have my storm yet but i heard about a trick when you have finished your sms don’t choose option to send it but click twice the button menu.anyone to confirm

another i just find on a french forum if you want to hide the virtual keyboard don’t do this with the option but slide your finger from the top of the keyboard to the bottom

To save battery, you can see what programs are currently running by holding down the menu button for an extended period of time. Any unnecessary programs (gps) should be closed.

A new trick that i found very useful,when you’re typing any text sms,email…If you made a mistake in the text it’s very hard to click exactly so put you’re finger on the end of the line during more than 3sec the selection rectangle which is blue become transparent and when you move your finger to the right or left it will move and allow you to select where the mistake was made.

Thanks h@wker that last one has solved a prob i’ve been having for ages!!!
My tips: 1.single light tap on any media screen will bring up ur pause/play/next controls. 2. When using qwerty keyboard and suretype text comes up: If you want to use the suggestion hit space if not press in white space on screen.

A trick I accidently found which everyone probably already knows. When typing a message and you want to clear everything you have typed press the back arrow button and it clears everything off instead of manually deleting each letter.

That tip by “Red Kid On The Sun” helps on clearing up the memory!.. good tip!..
if you guys want to share your BB Pin with someone by SMS, MMS, or Email, just type “mypin” all together with no spaces and hit space or enter and your PIN number will be automatically inserted!!!!.
same goes for for these other aoutomatic inserts.. they may all come in handy if you wanna share certain information and need a shortcut for them…
using any messaging service, type any of the following codes and the proper insert will apear
“usrid” = your Full Name
“myver”=your current version and BB model
“mypin”= BB PIN number
“Lt”= Current time
“mynumber”=your mobile phone number
“rb”= right parenthesis “)”
“br”= left parenthesis “(”
“sig”= ?-_-?
those are all the ones i know… hope they help!

If you want to delete several emails or texts at the same time. Place and hold you finger at the upper left side of the screen then tap the bottom right corner. Several should now be highlighted you can delete them all together.

A quick way to purge your emails and texts is to selecct the date by touching it until it highlights then click menu and simply choose delete prior and it will remove everything thing from the highlighted date back.
